As a stay-at-home dad who’s working hard to have a successful writing career, I’ve found that multi-tasking is essential. So, I decided to teach my daughter geography while keeping tabs on my progress toward my writing goals.
I purchased a United States map and set an aggressive goal to get my work published in all 50 states. Whenever I land a column in a different state, my daughter colors the state. When we started in January 2013, she colored Georgia, New York, Texas, and California. We’ve since taped two provinces in Canada to our map. I hope my daughter will get to do lots of coloring … while learning all 50 states. Keep an eye on this page for updates.
